The Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder, which just nabbed a 2018 Best of Beauty Award, is the most blinding drugstore highlighter ever! It was so popular with the beauty folks online. Yes, I bought into the hype, and it cost me just under $5. I picked up the shade Precious Petals, which is right up my alley. In the pan, it skews a little rose gold to my eye, and that’s my favorite color for a highlighter. And today I’m writing Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder review. Keep on reading!
Shimmer and shine in all the right places with the same formula as our must-have MegaGlo Highlighting Powder. Back by popular demand, our #1 highlighting powder is here to stay! Its ultra-pearly finish and easy-to-blend formula makes it a fan favorite! The silky smooth, highly-pigmented powder gives an all over glow when applied to the cheek bones, brow bone, and cupid’s bow.
The individual pan comes in a square plastic packaging with a transparent lid. There is no outer cardboard packaging, which is in line with most drugstore products. No mirror or brush either. Obviously, all these things add to the price of the product and if you strip them of, it contributes to the lower pricing. The product in the pan has this specific design which is utterly gorgeous to look at. It actually mesmerizes you. I am trying my best to use the product without messing the design too much! LOL
The shade looks about medium in the pan but swatches light to medium. It is a soft warm rose gold – like a more easily wearable version of rose gold, with a metallic sheen. There is no shimmer, no fine micro-glitter – just a smooth metallic sheen. Needless to say, the metallic-ness lends it a pronounced effect. So, the product gives a more metallic, wet look on the skin – or what I like to term as the “Insta-culture highlight” – which is “visible from space” types. You get the brief. However, Precious Petal can be sheered out and used more lightly – it is quite easily blend-able. Once sheered, the color becomes lighter while the shine remains – though more diffused.
The texture is soft and smooth to touch. It is extremely easy to pick up on most brushes and blends beautiful. If you use a more fluffy brush, you can apply it lightly. If you use a smaller, more tapered brush or a more dense brush, you will get the distinct Instagram highlight.
The pigmentation is good but it doesn’t go on as dark as in the pan. So, on application, it gets even more diffused giving a soft subtle rose gold with a more pronounced shimmer, which is good for a highlighter. Moreover, it will give you that natural glow on your skin which I like!
The product wears exceptionally well. It stays put for 7-8 hours – which is a lot on my oily skin.
