The top 5 best nail care tips

A lot of you have a skincare routine, a hair care routine, a makeup routine; but most of you forget about nail care routine. Yes, you read right, a nail care routine; nails are part of our bodies, as long as we care about our bodies; we should care about our nails too. Whether you paint them every week, have fake nails on or get a manicure every 3 or 4 weeks, there are plenty of nail care tips recommended by nail-care experts. However, I’m going to give you just the top 5 best nail care tips that are easy to do.

1. Always moisturize your hands and nails.

As you apply moisturizer on your face, you can also apply a moisturizer on your nails. For that, you can use some products on the market dedicated only for nails such as nail crèmes, nail oils (Nailtiques Nail Moisturizer, Jordana cuticle oil/nail conditioner…). Or, you can make a nail moisturizer yourself by mixing almond and avocado oils. You should apply this every night before you go to bed on all the nails like you’re applying a nail polish. Don’t forget to massage your cuticles as well. And if you want that extra hydration, you can apply it also in the morning or during the day.

2. Wear gloves when doing dishes

Whenever you’re cleaning with harsh chemicals, gardening, or doing anything that involves soaking or dirtying your hands, it is very very very important to wear gloves. Otherwise, if you don’t wear gloves, over time you’re going to end up with dry, flaky nails that tend to break easily.

3. Protect your nails with a base coat.

Nail-experts suggested that it is necessary to apply a base coat on your nails, even if you are not painting your nails. Because not only it will protect your nails, it will also add that extra shiny layer on top of your nails.

4. Give your nails a break.

If you tend to wear gels polishes a lot or have acrylic and fake nails on, you should give your nails time to rest regularly, at least give them a week. Dermatologists say that not giving you nails a break can dry them out, turn them yellow, and over time, even weaken the structure of the nail. And you don’t want that, do you?

5. Be gentle on your nails.

There are a lot of no-no’s that you aren’t supposed to do if you want to take of your nails. For instance, you should stop picking and biting them, stop scrubbing them too roughly and instead of open a can with your nails, it’s better to open it with a spoon…etc.
