Located in nearby Senegal, Cabo Verde also called Cape Verde is an island country comprising 10 volcanic islands. Well, I couldn’t make it to all of them but I did visit the most popular island there and it was Sal. So welcome to my Cabo Verde travel guide!
Once I got there, I was pleasantly surprised by how calm and relaxing the island was. Sal is the perfect destination for lovers of the beach, the sea, the surfing, the high peaks, the tropical weather and, most of all, the zero stressing life. Where to sleep? What to see? Where to eat? Don’t worry, I’ll tell you: here’s my guide, for you, of this incredible Cape Verdean island (my Cabo Verde Travel Guide!!!)
There’s nothing better than waking up in the morning hearing the calming sound of the waves. Villa ao Mar offers nice apartments with a fully equipped kitchen with an oven and kettle, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with bath or shower and even a terrace for some units. Whether you want to dip your toes in the sand or go board surfing, this is the spot to do it.
Located 150 m from Santa Maria beach, this hotel is known for its gorgeous properties. Even if you don’t want to go to the beach, you can still spend some good days without leaving the hotel. From pool parties to beauty treatments and massages at the Spa, you will never get bored. Plus, the rooms are some of the very best.
Sal has everything to spend beautiful days, enjoying the sea, watching the fishermen, discovering the island… There are small tours to get to know the island and sport activities to do on the beach.
Visiting salina is a must if you’re ever in Sal. This island is known for the big amount of salt that the inhabitants make. And Salina is where the salt is been produced. The views aren’t worth missing!
This is when your trip is going to be well worth. Like most tourists, you will absolutely fall in love with this place. It’s actually a blue saltwater pool inside a lava-encrusted rock. The spot is ideal for both swimmers and divers.
It’s a town in the northwestern part of the island of Sal and it’s known for the main port of the island. And there’s also a ton of photo opportunities to make the memories last a lifetime.
Do you dream of your first ride through the waves on a kiteboard? Well, KBC Sal will make your dream come true. And if you don’t want to kite-surf, you can simply enjoy the amazing view and take photos, like I did.
Gata Fish & Yacht Club: Sal has an abundance of great seafood restaurants, but this one is definitely one of my favorites. They have delicious grilled fish dishes. You definitely don’t want to miss it.
Palm Beach Restaurant: This restaurant has probably anything you want to eat, not only seafood. If you’re looking for fresh and healthy meals, while still dipping your toes in the sand, then this is the place to be.
Sal Beach Club Restaurant: For those of you who like dinner in an open restaurant and a bar, don’t miss taking a visit to Sal beach club. You can enjoy your dinner while watching the sea and the fresh wind hitting you and then go have some fun on the dancefloor.
