Known as “The Magic City”, Miami boasts a unique and exciting mix of hip urban and Hispanic Latino culture. From the shores of South Beach and sparkling high-rises of Downtown Miami, to quaint Coral Gables and even the lush farmland of Homestead, there’s no denying that Miami is a beautiful city. But before you get another idea that Miami is all style and no substance, it’s hard to know where to go to get the absolute best views, especially if you gonna go there for the first time just like me. So let me show what are the things you should do in Miami? Where to stay there? And where to go? Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to your ultimate Miami travel guide!
Where to stay
I’ve spent the first night in Miami here in this 5 stars hotel. We arrived to Miami late at night, so we wanted something comfy and clean to spend the night there but also not too far from the airport. And Hilton Miami Downtown hotel was perfect for that. This upscale hotel is centrally located in downtown Miami, just 7.5 miles away from Miami International Airport. It features a rooftop pool, well-equipped gym and spacious rooms. Our room feature floor-to-ceiling windows and such a panoramic view of Biscayne Bay. It also has a 27-inch flat-screen TV, MP3 docking station and a coffee maker.
After spending the first night in Hilton, we changed to stay in this 4 stars hotel. It is located in a historic building, which gives it such a vintage old vibes to it. However, Eurostars Langford offers modern amenities. You will have in your room a mini-bar and a 48-inch flat-screen TV, a private bathroom with a shower, bathrobes, and free toiletries. And you can also include the breakfast with your stay or pay only 15$ to get it!
Where to go
Brickell of Biscayne Bay
With the towering high-rises and mirrored buildings lining Brickell Avenue, Brickell has become the hub of metropolitan living in Miami. Add that to the fact that it lines Biscayne Bay and has its own island, Brickell Key, and you get the best of both worlds. For some of the best views of the area, go straight to the top. The GMCVB Visitor’s Center in Brickell on the 27th floor, Area31 at the EPIC Miami and the rooftop at Sugar at EAST, Miami overlook the best sights that Brickell has to offer. To combine that Miami skyline with 360-degree water views, head to the Mandarin Oriental, Miami. Situated on Brickell Key, it’s home to some of Miami’s most beautiful backdrops.
Go to Miami Beach
If you go to Miami just to enjoy the sun and the beach, Miami Beach is the way to go. The area was originally inhabited by Tequesta and later by Seminole Indians. It is located on natural and man-made barrier islands between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, the latter of which separates the Beach from the mainland city of Miami. Miami Beach is the 26th largest city in Florida based on official 2017 estimates from the US Census Bureau.
Visit Wynwoods Walls
I’m pretty sure you’ve heard about it: The Wynwood Walls. Wynwood neighborhood has become a haven for aspiring painters, graffiti artists, creative and young innovators alike. Just minutes from Downtown Miami, near Midtown and the Miami Design District, this thriving neighborhood centers around Wynwood Walls. A collection of giant walls from six buildings, Wynwood Walls has since become a blank canvas for famed artists from across the globe.
Go to Little Havana
Little Havana is the best known neighborhood for Cuban exiles in the world, Calle Ocho is the heart and soul of Little Havana. Home to many Cuban exiles, as well as many immigrants from Central and South America, Little Havana is named after Havana, the capital and largest city in Cuba. Little Havana is noted as a center of social, cultural, and political activity in Miami. It is characterized by its street life, restaurants, music and other cultural activities, mom and pop enterprises, political passion, and great warmth amongst its residents.
Do the Millionaire’s Row Cruise
The Millionaire’s Row cruise is a good way to see some of the homes of the rich and famous (& rich and not so famous) people while enjoying a leisurely cruise on Biscayne Bay. I really enjoyed doing it because I get the chance to see the mansion of Rihanna where she filmed her music video “needed”, the mansion Shakira, the mansion of Jennifer Lopez, the mansion of Ricky Martin, the mansion of Naomi Campbell and the list goes on…
