What to visit
Visit the White House
You wouldn’t call it a trip to Washington if you go there and you don’t visit the White House. Built between 1792 and 1800, the “President’s House” is an iconic, imposing building that’s thrilling to see but difficult to access. So you can only enjoy the view from the outside and take pictures with it.
Visit the US Capitol
This is where the lower House of Representatives (435 members) and upper Senate (100) meet to write the country’s laws. You can take pictures of it from the outside or enter it, but just know that tickets are limited and there’s often a long wait.
Visit Lincoln Memorial
The Lincoln Memorial was built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. It is located on the western end of the National Mall in Washington, across from the Washington Monument. Composed of 36,000 blocks of stone, the Washington Monument is the district’s tallest structure. I mean, it was the tallest structure in the world from 1884 to 1889, then it was overtaken by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It was built to commemorate George Washington.
