I remember my first experience with bronzer was when I was in high school. I used to cover my entire face with the Guerlain terracotta bronzer, it was my first bronzer ever (actually it was my mom’s bronzer, but I took it from her makeup bag because she wasn’t using it). In case you’re new to the makeup game slash don’t know, you must know that bronzer is used to add warmth and dimension to your face. Bronzer is all about making your skin look healthier and not pale. Plus, it is really, truly simple to use it, as long as you know where to apply it and how to use it. Here are the 5 ways to use a bronzer:
I promise that using bronzer on your cheeks has some great effects on your skin. Just reload your brush in bronzer, swipe a line of powder from your ear to the apple of your cheek, then gently blend it out using tiny circular brush strokes. You can use a peachy bronzer or a bronzer that has the same color as your blush.
You can also use a bronzer directly on your face, without even applying a foundation! However, if you want it to stay longer, you better should apply setting spray! Foundation is what makes it stay longer on your face but since you won’t use any; you still need something to clog your pores and a setting spray will work just fine. If you have chance to re-apply when your bronzer is gone, then you don’t even need setting spray.
Bronzers can contain a lot of shimmer and do promise radiant skin, just like highlighters do. If you want to use a bronzer as a highlighter, make sure you choose a bronzer that is shimmery and choose the right shade for your skin tone (a lighter one if it’s possible). Apply it where you normally apply your highlighter, in the areas you’d like to emphasize and enhance (like your cheekbones, your cupid’s bone,…)
Using bronzer as an eyeshadow is a super quick way to give the eyes a little bit of warmth just like it would on the skin, especially if you are in hurry and you don’t have time to apply eyeshadows. This makeup trick works well on any and every skintone. It also looks so natural, effortless and helps you to get rid of tired looking eyes. Use a fluffy brush to blend slightly above the crease or to color completely your eyelids. If you want, you can extend the color diagonally up into a wing shape to accentuate the eyes.
Bronzers are used to add warmth to your complexion. And contour products are used to enhance and emulate shadows on your face to create depth and sculpt your face shape. Some of the bronzers (especially the matte ones) can be applied to help softly define your features. However, you can’t apply a bronzer in the same structured way that you apply your contour. Whatever formula your bronzer has (liquid, cream, matte or shimmery powder); it should be applied lightly. On the other hand, contour products should be buffed in with a dense brush or with a beauty blender. Check out why you should always wet you beauty blender before you use it.
