Maureen Kelly the founder and the CEO of Tarte Cosmetics is what all women should aspire to be (ambitious and tender-hearted) and I’m deeply grateful for her work. When I heard the story of Maureen Kelly starting Tarte, I was deeply humbled and inspired. Creating makeup was a dream of Maureen’s since she was a child and even created her first makeup product – a cheek stain – at the tender age of 6, yes SIX years old people! But simply having this gift wasn’t enough to give her success. She had to take leaps of faith and pound the pavement, working out of her apartment until she finally got it to launch into Sephora in 2003.
And I felt more connected to Kelly when I’ve found out that she was pursuing a PhD in psychology at Columbia University when she dropped out to create the company. And since I’m currently studying psychology, now I feel like I have two things in common with Kelly: the love of makeup and the love of psychology.

Tarte uses the events as part of a wider strategy to foster deep and long-term relationships with influencers, thus turning them into ambassadors of the brand. But also to reach millions of consumers both before, during, and after each #trippinwithtarte influencer event. Which I think is a very genius marketing strategy to promote their brand. To be honest, it is a dream of mine to travel with Tarte and get to live this magical experience with them – I actually have it written on my vision board so I really hope that one day this dream will come true!
