3 Reasons why you should prep your skin before your makeup

Have you ever asked yourself why you should prep your skin before makeup?You’ve probably wondered why does celebrities makeup look so flawless and perfect, well, that’s probably because of all the preparation that goes onto their skin before makeup application.

Before you apply your makeup, it’s absolutely important to prep your skin. From cleansing to exfoliating to moisturizing to applying face masks, these are just a few steps that you don’t want to skip, if you really want to get the most out of your makeup application. Maybe you think that it’s too much work to keep up with. (You might say: ‘‘I’m just going to apply my foundation directly! I don’t need to prep my skin’’). But no honey, you’re wrong;

Here are 3 reasons (to stop feeling lazy ;D ), and to start prepping your skin before applying your makeup.

  1. If you don’t prep your skin, you will have larger pores.

First, consider that excess sebum (oil), dead skin cells, and pollution are sitting on your face. And then, you apply your foundation on top of all that (which will enlarge your pores). I mean, can you imagine how horrible is that? So, to remove all these impurities, use a cleanser that is suitable for your skin type. Then exfoliate with an exfoliator that isn’t too harsh for your skin or with a DIY scrub, that just takes a couple of minutes to make with the right ingredients. Because if you don’t, your skin would be covered with a thick layer of dirt and grime. Therefore, it will make it difficult for makeup products to penetrate the skin properly.

  1. It’s a good way to prevent acne

If you may not know, there are some tiny little glands under your skin that produce sebum to protect the skin from the dangers of the outside world (pollution, bacteria …). And sometimes excessive dirt builds up on the surface of your skin. This can cause a lack of sebum which allows bacteria to penetrate the skin causing inflammation. The final result is acne. So if you want to decrease the chances of a breakout, it’s preferable to maintain a clean skin. Thus, a good base for your makeup application.

  1. It will keep your skin hydrated

Whether you drink a lot of water or not, whether you apply makeup every day or not, it is always important to keep your skin hydrated. You don’t want your skin to look and feel rough, do you?

In order to have a fresh looking face, you should apply a moisturizer which will help hydrate your skin all day long, even with your makeup on. If your skin is dry or the weather is cold, make sure you use a moisturizer that will suit your skin. Or a serum that deeply nourishes, and hydrates your skin from within.

So, say goodbye to a flaky skin for good and say hello to a perfect skin and to a long-lasting flawless makeup application! Don’t forget to prep your face next time!
